Installation & Troubleshooting
Installing Content
In order to install this content into Trainz, please follow the below steps:
-
Launch Trainz, and select 'Manage Content' from the launch screen. This will bring up Content Manager.
-
In Content Manager, select the File menu, then click on 'Import Content Files...'. In the window that pops up, select the CDP files you have downloaded. Content Manager will then install the content from these files.
-
Some of the dependencies for these models will need to be downloaded from the Trainz download station. To do this, click on the drop-down list next to where it says 'Filter:' at the top of the screen. Select the option that says 'Today'. This will bring up all assets that were installed today.
-
Select the models you just installed, then right-click. From the menu that pops up, click on 'Download'. This will make Content Manager search for and download all the available dependencies. (All dependencies for these models should be on the Download Station or included in the CDPs.)
-
Once this has done, select the 'Open for Editing' filter where you selected 'Today' in step 3. If there are any assets listed, select them, right-click, then click 'Submit Edits'. (If an asset is installed from a CDP when it is already installed, then Trainz will leave it open for editing.)
-
By this point, the model should be installed with no missing dependencies, and is ready to use.
Setting Up Controller Support
The Trainz 2019 models on this site have controller scripting by Rileyzzz, which allows a video game controller to be used to move the eyes on the models, and switch the faces. In order to use this, you'll need a video game controller you can connect to your computer. Once you have one, you will need to follow the below steps to set it up:
-
Connect the controller to your computer.
-
Launch Trainz, and select 'Trainz Setttings' from the launch screen. This will bring up the settings window.
-
On the 'General' tab, make sure that 'Enable game controller support' has a tick next to it.
-
Close the settings window and start Trainz.
-
From the system menu at the top-left of the screen, select 'Settings...'. Go to the 'Control Settings' section.
-
Scroll down until you reach a section called 'TTTE - Script Controls'.
-
Next to where it says 'Up', click the box beside 'Primary'. While the box is highlighted, push the joystick you want to use on the game controller up.
-
Repeat step 7 for 'Down', 'Left' and 'Right', pushing the joystick in the relevant direction.
-
Next to where it says 'Change Face Right', click 'Primary' and push the button you'd like to use to change the faces in one direction.
-
Repeat step 9 with the button you'd like to change the faces in the other direction. This will allow you to change between faces while driving.
-
If any of the controls turn red, this means they have been mapped elsewhere. If that's the case, then you'll need to remove the other mappings, to avoid conflicts. This is done by scrolling through the control list, selecting the conflicting mapping, and hitting backspace. The exception to this is with the joystick controls for the eyes, as it treats both sides of the X and Y-axes as the one control, even though they're two different ends.
-
Other control buttons can be mapped to different controls in the same manner (e.g. throttle up/down, etc.).
-
Once you're done, the 'TTTE - Script Controls' section should look something like this:
Troubleshooting
Below are some of the more common problems for these models in TANE and TRS2019, and possible fixes for them. Please try these fixes before asking for help.
-
Missing dependencies
-
All dependencies should be on the Download Station or included in the CDPs. If they are missing, try right-clicking on the offending model in Content Manager, then selecting 'Download' from the menu that pops up.
-
If the dependencies are still not working, then the best places to ask are the #kuid-request channel on WildNorWester's Discord Server, or on Twitter.

Faces are not appearing
-
All of the scripted models on this website use the AJS superscript library. (The controller scripting calls this). Sometimes, problems can arise if the latest version of this library is not installed. In order to fix this, launch Content Manager, and select the 'Installed' filter. Type 'AJS Superscript' into the search bar in the top-right. If the status says 'Newer Version Available', right-click on it and click 'Download'. This will install the latest version of the library.
-
Trainz 2019 Service Pack 5 will break the scripting used for these models. To tell if you have SP5 installed, you will need to check the TRS2019 launch screen. In the bottom-left, there is a build number. If this number is 116678 or 117009, then you are running SP5. It is possible to uninstall it and go back to SP3 or SP4. N3V games has provided a full installer for TRS2019 SP3, which can be downloaded here: https://dl1.n3vgames.com/Installers/TRS19/SP3/TRS19-SP3-Offline-Installer-111951.zip. You can use this to uninstall the SP5 version, and revert to SP3. Trainz assets are kept in the 'Local Data' folder, which is separate to the installation folder. As such, if you do not delete the local data folder, and did not move it from the default location, then your assets should be there following the reinstallation. You will need to do a database rebuild to have Trainz detect them. Please note, any routes and sessions that were saved in SP5 may not be able to be opened in SP3 afterwards, as there is a difference in how the route data is stored between the two versions.

Controller Script not working
-
If the TTTE Script Controls are set up as per above, but are not working, this may be due to a conflict between TTTE Script and TTTELocomotive Script. Removing the controls for the latter should allow the former to work.
-
-
Other faults
-
If other faults are occurring, it is possible that the Trainz asset database may need to be rebuilt. In order to do this, go to the launch window and click on the 'Developer' menu. Select 'Rebuild Database' from the menu that pops down. This may take while, depending on how many assets you have installed.
-
If the database rebuild does not resolve the issue, then the best places to ask are in the #troubleshooting-and-support channel on WildNorWester's Discord Server, or on Twitter.
-
When asking for help, please make sure to mention what the problem is, which models it's happening with, and what version of Trainz you are running. Providing this information will allow us to figure out what's wrong and how to fix it. Screenshots are also useful, if applicable.

For some of the models with the TTTELocomotive script, the properties window may not show up when in Surveyor in Trainz 2022:
However, the faces can be set and changed in Driver, by clicking on the icon of the face on the right of the screen.
